Event Details

This event is the first in a series of planned events which will provide a focus on landscape architecture and particularly on those people who are leaders in their fields today. Adriaan Geuze has recently won a 'lifetime achievement award' from the BKVB, The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture. "The jury praised Geuze not only for the impressive projects he realized, but definitely also for the broad approach in which he applies his talents and the important role he plays in initiating discussion about spatial and environmental design". ( http://www.west8.nl )

Adriaan Geuze and West 8 gained international recognition with projects such as Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam, Borneo Sporenburg in Amsterdam, Chiswick Park in London and Expo '02 in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. Many of the projects are the result of groundbreaking entries in important international competitions. Recently won competitions include Governors Island in New York, USA, Playa de Palma in Mallorca, Spain and Miami Lincoln Park, USA.

Access to the Lecture Theatre (King William 303 [LT KW303]) is via the northern entrance of King William building and access into the campus is via the main gates either to the east or for most people to the west of the campus from 'College Approach'.  From the gates at College Approach, walk up the main west/east spine past the Dreadnought Library on the right hand side. Turn right after the row of trees along a main north/south spine and at the end turn left to King William Court. The entrance into the building is at the north western corner.

The Greenwich campus is easily reached by public transport: DLR - Cutty Sark DLR Station as well as by train from Greenwich Station. On existing Cutty Sark DLR Station turn left and walk eastwards (pedestrianised) to College Approach and on to the main campus gates.

The talk will commence at 18:30 and continue for an hours with questions and discussion afterwards, finishing approximately 20:00
